About our verse
Did you notice the verse on the home page?
It's Nehemiah 8:8, and it's there on purpose. Picture the scene: about 445 years before Christ, God's people have just finished rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem after years in exile. Then a whole crowd gathers in the town square and asks Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law and read it to them.
Ezra climbs onto a wooden platform and reads from early morning until midday. Men, women, and everyone old enough to understand stand there and listen, the whole morning long. But reading alone wasn't the goal. Teachers moved among the crowd explaining what the text meant, so everyone could follow. That's verse 8, in three simple steps:
- They read it clearly.Every lesson here starts with the text itself.
- They gave the sense. We explain each passage in its own setting and language.
- They helped them understand.Video, audio, and handouts, so anyone can follow along.
And here's the best part. Once the people understood, they didn't just nod and go home. They wept, and then they celebrated, because they understood the words that were declared to them
(Nehemiah 8:12). The very next day they found a command they had been neglecting and put it into practice right away (8:13–17).
That's True Grace Ministries in one chapter: open the Scriptures, explain them carefully, help people understand, and watch lives change.
